Copperworks American Single Malt Whiskey is created from 100% malted barley and twice-distilled in Scottish copper pot stills.
Release 049 is crafted from pale malted Fritz variety of barley grown in the Skagit Valley about 70 miles north of our distillery. It was matured in charred new American Oak for over 3 years. To explore the effect of the malting process, compare this to Release 050 that was made from a Vienna malting of the same barley.
Tasting Notes:
A shade of shimmering titian in the glass, the nose greets you as you might expect with the heft of orange oil. Light wood accompanies with unripe strawberry, ginger, and a touch of marzipan. On the palate you'll find orange blossom tea, jasmine, honey, and an almost cake batter sweetness. The florality continues in the finish alongside piloncillo, sweet cinnamon, and red licorice.
A lovely sipper on it's own or it makes for a stunning Penicillin cocktail.
